A Brazilian journalist has claimed that Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad was allegedly preparing an assassination attempt against Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir and members of a Pakistani delegation during their visit to Switzerland.
The claim emerged in the context of diplomatic engagements held at the Bürgenstock resort, where delegations from Pakistan and Qatar were present as discussions linked to ongoing US-Iran peace efforts took place.
Journalist Makes Claim During Podcast Appearance
The allegation was made by Brazilian journalist Pepe Escobar during an appearance on a podcast hosted by political commentator Mario Nawfal.
According to Escobar, Pakistan’s military had allegedly received what he described as “credible information” suggesting that an assassination attempt targeting Asim Munir and members of the Pakistani delegation was being planned.

Escobar further claimed that Pakistan communicated a warning in response to the alleged threat through diplomatic channels. However, he did not provide publicly verifiable evidence to support the allegation.
No Independent Confirmation
No official statement from Israel, Switzerland, the United States or any other government authority has publicly confirmed the existence of such a plot.
The allegations remain unverified and have not been substantiated by independent evidence.
Pakistani Officials Dismiss Report
Pakistani authorities moved quickly to reject the claims.
According to ARY News Chairman Kamran Khan, a senior Pakistani security official described the allegation as “baseless” and dismissed reports of any assassination threat during the visit.
The official reportedly stated that the visit by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir proceeded according to schedule without any security concerns.
Security Arrangements Remained Intact
The Pakistani official further said that neither Swiss nor American security agencies raised any alerts during the delegation’s stay in Switzerland.
According to the statement, security arrangements remained fully operational throughout the visit, and no unusual incidents were reported.

The claims surfaced amid broader diplomatic efforts involving regional and international stakeholders seeking to support dialogue related to tensions in West Asia.
While the allegation has attracted attention on social media and political discussion platforms, no corroborating evidence has emerged from official sources.
