Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday commended Jordan’s leadership for sending a “strong and strategic message to humanity” in the global fight against terrorism, extremism and radicalisation.
Speaking during delegation-level talks with King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein in Amman, the Prime Minister said that India and Jordan share a clear and common position against terrorism and violent extremism.
Shared Commitment to Countering Violent Extremism
Recalling his early interactions with the Jordanian monarch, PM Modi said their engagements at global forums were focused on countering violent extremism.
“Even in our earliest meetings, Your Majesty spoke with clarity and conviction. Under your leadership, Jordan has consistently conveyed a powerful message against terrorism, extremism and radicalisation,” the Prime Minister said.

Role in Regional Peace and Gaza
PM Modi also acknowledged Jordan’s active and constructive role in regional peace efforts, particularly concerning the Gaza situation.
“You have played a very positive role on the issue of Gaza from the very beginning. We all hope that peace and stability will prevail in the region,” he said, while thanking the Jordanian leadership for the warm hospitality extended to the Indian delegation.
India–Jordan Ties Set to Reach New Heights
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the discussions held during the visit would help elevate India–Jordan relations to new heights.
Responding to PM Modi’s remarks, King Abdullah II said the visit reflected decades of friendship, mutual respect and productive cooperation between the two nations. He highlighted the growing partnership and shared vision for prosperity.

Expanding Economic Cooperation
The Jordanian monarch noted that bilateral cooperation has expanded across multiple sectors and said the visit provided an opportunity to explore new avenues of economic collaboration, including industry, information and communication technology (ICT), pharmaceuticals, agriculture and energy.
Three-Nation Tour
PM Modi arrived in Amman earlier in the day as part of his three-nation tour covering Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman. He was received at the airport by Jordanian Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, who accorded him a formal welcome.
From Jordan, the Prime Minister will travel to Ethiopia at the invitation of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, marking his first visit to the African nation. The final leg of the tour will take him to Oman, where he is scheduled to interact with the Indian diaspora and hold talks to strengthen bilateral ties.
