Who Was Madvi Hidma?
Madvi Hidma, one of India’s most wanted Maoist commanders, was killed in an encounter with security forces in Andhra Pradesh’s Alluri Sitaramaraju district on November 18.
He carried a bounty of ₹1 crore and was believed to be involved in several major attacks on security forces.
BJP Criticises Protesters, Calls Them ‘Urban Naxals’
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) strongly criticised the incident, accusing the protesters of pushing a “regressive Communist agenda.”
BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya said:
“For a decade, Delhi had an Urban Naxal as Chief Minister, yet no major protests happened over pollution. The moment BJP came to power, suddenly activists appeared — clearly motivated by Leftist propaganda, not environmental concern.”
He further attacked Left-backed student groups, accusing them of glorifying the slain Maoist commander.

Hidma’s Identity Long Shrouded in Mystery
For years, Hidma was known almost like a myth within security agencies. With no confirmed photograph, investigators relied on surrendered Maoists and sketch-based descriptions.
It was only this year that a clear image of the Maoist leader surfaced, confirming his identity after years of speculation.
