A day before the counting of votes for the Bihar Assembly elections, RJD MLC Sunil Singh sparked a major controversy by warning that the state could “turn into Nepal or Bangladesh” if any malpractice occurred during the counting process.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Singh said that party workers, alliance supporters, and ordinary voters were on high alert and would not tolerate even minimal fraud. He urged officials to uphold honesty and fairness in the counting process, cautioning that those involved in manipulation “would not remain in power for long.”

BJP Condemns Remarks, Calls Them ‘Frustration’
Reacting strongly, BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla termed Singh’s statement an example of “frustration and nervousness.”
He accused the RJD of attempting to create unrest ahead of counting day, noting earlier controversial comments by RJD leaders. He further alleged that the RJD was threatening democratic institutions instead of safeguarding them.
FIR Lodged Against Sunil Singh
Shortly after the controversy escalated, the Bihar DGP directed that an FIR be registered against Sunil Singh for making what officials described as an “inflammatory” and potentially destabilising statement.
