Trinamool Congress (TMC) National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Friday termed the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process as an “acid test” for the party, urging workers to remain alert and active to prevent “Silent Invisible Rigging.”
In a high-level meeting lasting nearly two hours, Banerjee instructed booth-level agents and local leaders to closely monitor voter roll updates and ensure that no legitimate voter is removed from the electoral list.
“We Will Not Allow Voter Deletions,” Says Banerjee
Referring to similar developments in Bihar, Banerjee said,
“After the Bihar SIR announcement, we said it was a case of Silent Invisible Rigging. The BJP wants to divide people through SIR and NRC, while Trinamool will stand by the people.”
He added that if genuine voters’ names are deleted, the TMC would launch a large-scale agitation in Delhi and even approach the courts for justice.

Key Directives to Party Cadres
- Help Desks and Camps: From November 4 to December 4, TMC workers will set up camps across West Bengal to assist citizens during the SIR process.
- Operational Support: Each camp will function from 9 AM to 5 PM with laptops, printers, and Wi-Fi to facilitate voter list verification.
- Digital and Offline Updates: Booth-level agents (BLAs) must verify entries on the Didir Doot app and maintain parallel offline records.
- Coordination: MPs, MLAs, and area presidents have been instructed to coordinate with Gram Panchayat heads for unified execution.
Over 6,200 camps will be organised across 2,861 wards and 3,345 Gram Panchayats, showcasing TMC’s “commitment to protect every voter,” Banerjee said.
District-Specific Focus
In Malda and Murshidabad, leaders were told to ensure migrant workers complete voter enumeration, while in Purba Medinipur, a legal cell will be created to address complaints. Banerjee also urged leaders to assist vulnerable communities in Bongaon and Ranaghat, drawing parallels to voter exclusions in Assam.

BJP’s Response
Reacting to Banerjee’s meeting, BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar accused the TMC of weakening ground connect.
“He (Abhishek Banerjee) does not step out on the ground; that’s why he holds virtual meetings. After SIR, even his virtual presence will fade,” Majumdar said.
