Bihar Polls 2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday blamed the “arrogance” of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav for the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s (JMM) decision to exit the Mahagathbandhan and contest the Bihar Assembly elections independently.
BJP IT Cell Chief Amit Malviya stated that the grand alliance had fractured due to the attitude of its senior leaders. “The JMM has released its list of candidates and announced it is no longer part of the Mahagathbandhan. Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav’s arrogance is the real reason behind the breakup,” Malviya said.

Echoing Malviya, Bihar BJP leaders noted that the alliance was disintegrating, with allied parties abandoning the partnership. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary also criticized the coalition, citing infighting among candidates within the alliance.
The JMM has announced it will contest six Bihar Assembly seats—Chakai, Dhamdaha, Katoria (ST), Manihari (ST), Jamui, and Pirpainti (SC)—in the second phase on November 11, with the possibility of increasing the number to ten. The party also released a list of 20 star campaigners, led by JMM President and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
JMM General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya emphasized that infighting exists in both the NDA and the INDIA bloc. He asserted, “We will contest and win, ensuring that no government is formed in Bihar without the JMM. After the Bihar elections, we will review the alliance in Jharkhand.”
The party had earlier sought 12 seats within the INDIA bloc but was accommodated with fewer. Congress leader Udit Raj urged resolving differences, highlighting the need for unity against the central government.

The ongoing disputes have exposed cracks within the Mahagathbandhan, with multiple constituencies seeing rival candidates fielded by allies. Despite efforts by senior leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Lalu Prasad Yadav, the alliance remains divided.
Bihar Assembly elections for 243 seats are scheduled on November 6 and 11, with counting on November 14.
