Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called upon citizens to make self-reliance a collective national mission, urging them to adopt Swadeshi products as part of everyday life. Speaking in the 126th edition of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Modi asked people to make “Vocal for Local” their shopping mantra during the upcoming festive season.
‘Vocal for Local’ as a Shopping Mantra
“With festivals around the corner and the GST Savings Festival underway, let us resolve to celebrate with Swadeshi products. If we do so, the joy of our celebrations will rise manifold,” the Prime Minister said.
He emphasised that buying local goods is not just about consumption but about supporting artisans, entrepreneurs, and families whose livelihoods depend on these products.
Cleanliness Beyond Homes
PM Modi also reminded citizens to focus on cleanliness during the festive season, not just inside homes but also in streets, neighbourhoods, markets, and villages.
“Cleanliness should become our responsibility everywhere,” he stressed.
A Call for Atmanirbhar Bharat
Extending greetings for the festive season, including Diwali, the Prime Minister reiterated that the path to a self-reliant India lies in embracing Swadeshi.
“We have to make the country Atmanirbhar, and that path lies only through Swadeshi,” he concluded.
