In a sharp escalation of rhetoric, Afghanistan’s Deputy Interior Minister and senior Taliban leader Mawlawi Muhammad Nabi Omari issued a stern warning to Pakistan, cautioning that Afghan forces and tribal groups could pursue Pakistani troops “up to the Indian border” if they are deemed invaders.
Addressing the Pakistani military directly, Omari declared,
“If the Afghan tribes and nation once declare you an invader by religious decree, I swear by God, you will not find safety even up to the Indian border.”

He further criticised Islamabad’s political and military establishment, accusing it of subservience to foreign powers. “The Pakistani military regime acts according to others’ wishes, and you must have seen Shehbaz Sharif’s recent video flattering Donald Trump,” he said.
Omari also hinted at possible territorial assertions, suggesting that “areas beyond the Durand Line that were once lost by Afghanistan may eventually return to Afghan control.”

The remarks come amid rising border tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, where cross-border clashes have intensified in recent weeks. Both sides accused each other of violating a 48-hour ceasefire that followed nearly a week of heavy fighting, which left dozens of soldiers and civilians dead.
Following the hostilities, Qatar’s foreign ministry confirmed that both nations agreed to an immediate ceasefire after mediation efforts in Doha.
