Former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on October 17, describing the meeting as a pleasure and referring to Modi as a “good friend.”
Following the discussion, Sunak took to Instagram, highlighting India’s “energy and ambition” as “unmistakable” and underscoring the potential for enhanced collaboration in business, technology, and education.
“It was a pleasure to reconnect with my good friend @narendramodi. We spoke about the challenges and opportunities shaping the decade ahead, from AI and infrastructure to global growth and economic resilience,” Sunak wrote.

During their talks, both leaders emphasised strengthening India-UK ties across multiple sectors, including education, technology, innovation, and women’s empowerment. Sunak praised India’s rapid emergence as an economic superpower, noting that it now surpasses the UK in the number of unicorn startups.

He also touched upon global challenges such as AI, infrastructure, tariffs, and migration, emphasising trust and national sovereignty as crucial for future bilateral relations.
