External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held discussions with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on Wednesday on the sidelines of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Canada, focusing on the ongoing conflict and recent regional developments.
Talks On Ukraine Conflict And Global Developments
In a post on X, Jaishankar said: “A useful conversation with FM Ukraine @andrii_sybiha in the midst of the G7 FMM Outreach session. He shared Ukraine’s perspective on recent developments.”
The meeting took place as part of India’s broader diplomatic engagement during the G7 Outreach sessions.
India Highlights Maritime Security And Cooperation
Earlier, Jaishankar participated in the G7 Outreach Session on Maritime Security and Prosperity, where he underlined India’s MAHASAGAR outlook, Indo-Pacific cooperation, and port-led development initiatives.
He emphasized the importance of stronger coordination to safeguard critical maritime and undersea infrastructure, which has emerged as a key global security priority.

Meetings With US Secretary Of State And Other Counterparts
On the sidelines, Jaishankar also met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. In another post, he wrote: “Good to meet @SecRubio this morning at #G7 FMM. Appreciate his condolences on the loss of lives in the blast in Delhi.”
The two leaders discussed India–US bilateral ties, including trade, supply chains, and global security issues. They also exchanged views on the Ukraine conflict, the Middle East situation, and Indo-Pacific developments.
On Tuesday, Jaishankar held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Canada, Mexico, France, Brazil, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

India As Invited Partner At G7 Meet
India participated in the G7 meeting as an invited partner under Canada’s presidency, along with Brazil, Australia, and South Korea.
According to official sources, the two-day event focused on strengthening global security, economic resilience, energy cooperation, and partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region.
The Ministry of External Affairs said Jaishankar’s visit underscores India’s “continued commitment to work with international partners” on global and regional issues.
