Veteran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has praised young spinner Shree Charani, calling her the “biggest reason” behind India’s triumph in the 2025 Women’s World Cup.
Ashwin Hails Charani’s Technique and Consistency
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ashwin compared Charani’s bowling fundamentals to some of the world’s top spinners, including Sophie Ecclestone, Jess Jonassen, and Sophie Molineux.
“Her ball rotation speed, body alignment, and energy transfer are perfect. She goes into a lovely side-on position without any collapse or energy leakage. She crushed the World Cup and is going to be a superstar bowler in the future,” Ashwin said.

Harmanpreet Kaur’s Legacy and Leadership Praised
Ashwin also credited Harmanpreet Kaur’s leadership, likening India’s World Cup victory to the historic 1983 and 2011 men’s World Cup wins.
