Jemimah Rodrigues scripted history with an unbeaten 127 as India defeated defending champions Australia by five wickets in the semifinal of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Thursday. With this victory, India stormed into the final and will face South Africa on Sunday at the same venue.
Record-Breaking Chase By India
Chasing a formidable target of 339, India achieved the highest successful run chase in Women’s World Cup history, finishing at 341/5 in 48.3 overs with nine balls to spare.
After an early setback when Shafali Verma departed for 10, Rodrigues steadied the innings alongside Smriti Mandhana and later captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Jemimah’s aggressive yet composed knock came off 115 balls, featuring 10 fours, while Harmanpreet contributed a vital 89 off 88 balls in a 167-run partnership — India’s highest-ever stand in World Cup knockout matches.
