Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday criticised opposition parties, accusing them of insulting Sanatana Dharma and obstructing the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple movement.
Addressing a gathering ahead of Deepotsav 2025 celebrations in Ayodhya, the Chief Minister recalled that in 2017, the state government had to collect lamps from across Uttar Pradesh to light just 1.71 lakh lamps. “Today, Ayodhya shines with millions of lamps. These are not just lamps — they are symbols of the victory of faith over 500 years of darkness,” he said.

Yogi alleged that the Congress had denied Lord Ram’s existence, submitting an affidavit in the Supreme Court calling him a myth. He also attacked the Samajwadi Party, claiming that bullets were fired at Ram devotees in Ayodhya by its members in the past.
The Chief Minister further criticised opposition leaders for skipping the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple pran-prathistha ceremony, saying, “These are the same people who offer ‘sajda’ at Babar’s grave but refused to participate in the Ram temple pran-prathistha ceremony when invited.”

He emphasised the longstanding determination behind the movement, noting, “Since 1949, there has been one resolution — ‘Ram Lalla Hum aayenge, Mandir wahin banayenge.’ For centuries, foreign invaders tried to destroy our faith, but our determination remained firm.”
