Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi after being praised as a “skilled and experienced administrator,” following his swearing-in for a record 10th term on Thursday.
Oath Ceremony at Gandhi Maidan
Nitish Kumar took oath at Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP chief JP Nadda, and other senior NDA leaders. Governor Arif Mohammed Khan administered the oath.
Following the ceremony, PM Modi congratulated Kumar, highlighting his long-standing record of governance.
“He is an experienced administrator with a proven track record of good governance for many years,” the Prime Minister wrote.

In response, Kumar posted on X:
“Heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji for the greetings.”
Two Decades of Leadership
Having first assumed full-term office in 2005, Nitish Kumar is now among India’s longest-serving chief ministers, completing 20 years in power. His tenure is credited with significant infrastructure development, improved road connectivity, and a sharp reduction in crime — earning him the title “Sushasan Babu.”

NDA’s Landslide Victory
The NDA secured a sweeping win in the Bihar Assembly elections, winning 202 of the 243 seats.
- BJP: 89 seats
- JD(U): 85 seats
- LJP (Ram Vilas): 19 seats
- HAM (Secular): 5 seats
- Rashtriya Lok Morcha: 4 seats
Meanwhile, the Mahagathbandhan suffered a major setback with the RJD securing only 25 seats and the Congress winning 6 out of the 61 it contested.
