Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagenthran on Tuesday demanded immediate action against a DMK functionary after a video surfaced on social media showing him allegedly issuing a death threat to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The video shared by Nagenthran purportedly features DMK South District Secretary Jayapalan making threatening remarks during a party event in Tenkasi.

In a post on X, Nagenthran wrote:
“The DMK functionary who issued death threats to the Prime Minister must be arrested… His remarks against the Honorable Prime Minister are utterly condemnable.”
Controversy Amid Ongoing DMK–ECI Standoff
The incident comes at a time when the ruling DMK is engaged in a confrontation with the Election Commission of India over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Tamil Nadu.
What Did the DMK Leader Allegedly Say?
Jayapalan, while addressing a protest against SIR, allegedly compared Prime Minister Modi to “Narakasura” and claimed the country would “benefit only by eliminating him.”
He was heard saying:
“Modi is desperate to snatch your votes… He is another demon… Tamil Nadu can benefit only by eliminating him… We must fight this battle unitedly.”
