West Bengal BJP leader and Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Sunday alleged that he faced repeated attacks from “illegal Bangladeshi Muslims” during a religious visit to South 24 Parganas district.
In a detailed post on social media platform X, Adhikari accused the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) of orchestrating obstruction and violence against him. He claimed that several attempts were made to stop his car at seven different locations, with one attack occurring in front of Lalpur Madrasa.

Adhikari alleged that the chaos was organised by TMC Zila Parishad member Rekha Gazi, with the support of SP Koteswara Rao. He emphasised that he was attending only for Kali Puja and Diwali festivities and not any political event.
He further blamed illegal infiltrators in the region, noting that the Special Intensive Registration (SIR) process had made them anxious. “This region is adjacent to Bangladesh, and its proximity has allowed infiltrators to settle here with the support of the TMC ecosystem,” Adhikari stated.

The BJP leader questioned the freedom of Hindus to participate in religious events in West Bengal without fear. “Can’t a Hindu participate freely in any religious event in the State of West Bengal without facing obstruction from radicals? They can’t intimidate me; I will return during Jagadhatri Puja as well,” he added.
