Mumbai Police successfully rescued 17 children and two adults after a tense six-day hostage crisis in Powai, Mumbai. The accused, identified as Rohit Arya, was killed during a police operation after he opened fire on the rescue team.
The Hostage Situation
According to officials, Arya allegedly lured over 100 students to RA Studios under the pretext of a web series audition. He later released most of them but held 17 children and two others hostage, threatening to set the studio ablaze if his demands were not met.
Police received a distress call around 1:45 pm and began negotiations, which later failed. A rescue team entered the building through the bathroom area, where Arya used the children as human shields and fired at officers. He was injured in retaliatory firing and later declared dead at the hospital.
