Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the powerful explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station, which killed eight and injured over 20 people.
Taking to X, the Prime Minister wrote, “Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the blast in Delhi earlier this evening. May the injured recover at the earliest. Those affected are being assisted by authorities.”
Modi also held a detailed review of the situation with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and senior officials to assess ongoing rescue and investigation efforts.
Amit Shah Visits Hospital and Blast Site
Home Minister Amit Shah visited the Lok Nayak Jaya Prakash (LNJP) Hospital to meet the injured before inspecting the explosion site near Red Fort. He directed security and investigation agencies to expedite the probe and ensure all possible support to victims’ families.

Defence Minister Reacts to the Tragedy
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described the incident as “extremely painful and disturbing,” extending condolences to the bereaved families and wishing for the swift recovery of the injured.
Details of the Explosion
The high-intensity blast occurred in a vehicle parked near the Red Fort Metro Station around 7 PM, triggering panic and damaging nearby cars and buildings.
Sources reported that at least ten people were killed and more than thirty injured.
Police and seven fire tenders rushed to the spot, while the National Investigation Agency (NIA) joined the probe after preliminary reports suggested the use of an improvised explosive device (IED).

Nationwide Security Alert Issued
Following the incident, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) issued a nationwide high alert, enhancing security at airports, metro stations, heritage sites, and government buildings.
CCTV footage from the vicinity is being examined to identify suspects, with initial leads indicating possible links to terror networks based in Jammu and Kashmir.
