Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday praised the indigenous dog squad’s performance during the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas parade held at the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, describing it as “among the most admired parts” of the event. The parade marked the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, celebrated annually as National Unity Day.
Indigenous Dog Breeds Take The Spotlight
The parade featured indigenous dog breeds including Rampur Hounds and Mudhol Hounds. Leading the squad was “Riya,” a Mudhol Hound and winner of the All India Police Dog Competition. Sharing a video of the performance on X, PM Modi wrote, “Among the most admired parts of the Ekta Parade were the demonstrations by indigenous dog breeds.”

Other Highlights Of The Parade
In addition to the canine display, Assam Police’s Motorcycle Daredevil Show captivated the audience with precision stunts and impressive formations, symbolising India’s strength and discipline.
The parade also showcased cultural tableaux from Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Manipur, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, and Puducherry under the theme “Unity in Diversity.”

Honouring Bravery And Tradition
Prime Minister Modi also honoured five Shaurya Chakra awardees from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and 16 gallantry medal recipients from the Border Security Force (BSF).
Applauding the performances, PM Modi said, “The programmes carried the traditions of the past, the hard work of the present, and a glimpse of future accomplishments.”
