Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended his warm greetings to the people of India on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, expressing hope that the festival would bring light, harmony, and happiness to every home.
“Greetings on the occasion of Diwali. May this festival of lights illuminate our lives with harmony, happiness and prosperity. May the spirit of positivity prevail all around us,” PM Modi posted on X.
PM Modi Promotes ‘Swadeshi’ Initiative
Reiterating his call for promoting local industries, the Prime Minister urged citizens to purchase Indian-made products during the festival season.
“Let’s mark this festive season by celebrating the hard work, creativity, and innovation of 140 crore Indians. Let’s buy Indian products and say—Garv Se Kaho Yeh Swadeshi Hai!” he wrote, encouraging people to share their purchases on social media to inspire others.

The appeal aligns with the government’s broader Vocal for Local and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, aimed at boosting self-reliance and empowering small-scale artisans and entrepreneurs.
Yogi Adityanath: ‘Festival Symbolises Victory Of Truth And Righteousness’
Extending his Diwali greetings, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described the festival as a sacred symbol of “the eternal victory of truth, righteousness, and positivity.”
He wrote on X: “The festival of lights is not merely a ritual of lighting lamps, but a beacon of hope in the soul, a pulse of harmony in society, and a resolve for national resurgence.”
Praying for divine blessings, he added, “May the grace of Lord Shri Ram and Mother Janaki illuminate not only our homes but also our hearts. Jai Jai Siyaram!”

Ayodhya Creates Guinness World Record With 26 Lakh Diyas
Meanwhile, on the eve of Diwali, Ayodhya set two new Guinness World Records during the grand Deepotsav 2025 celebrations.
Over 26,17,215 oil lamps were lit along the 56 ghats of the Saryu River, marking the largest-ever display of oil lamps and the biggest diya rotation event.
The event, jointly organised by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department and the Ayodhya District Administration, saw participation from over 30,000 volunteers from universities, colleges, and various departments.
Officials said the diyas were arranged in intricate patterns to enable accurate counting and verification by Guinness World Records representatives, making the occasion a historic milestone for Ayodhya.
