Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday flagged off the first batch of BrahMos missiles manufactured at the BrahMos Aerospace unit in Lucknow, marking a milestone for India’s defence manufacturing and the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC). Singh described the occasion as a testament to India’s growing indigenous defence capabilities and warned Pakistan that “every inch of its land is within the reach of BrahMos.”
Speaking at the ceremony, the Defence Minister referred to India’s recent ‘Operation Sindoor’, calling it “just a trailer” of the country’s action against terrorism. He said the operation demonstrated India’s increasing military strength and sent a strong message to adversaries that “our enemies will not be spared.”

Highlighting the capabilities of the BrahMos missile, Singh noted, “It combines speed, accuracy, and power, making it one of the world’s best missile systems. Today, BrahMos has become the backbone of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.”
Rajnath Singh also praised Lucknow’s emergence as a key defence manufacturing hub, noting that the city has now become one of six nodes of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor. “A few years ago, who could have imagined that India’s most modern missiles would be produced from Lucknow? Today, this is reality, not a dream,” he said.
Singh further emphasised the importance of strengthening small industries to achieve self-reliance in defence manufacturing and reduce dependence on foreign suppliers for spare parts. The Defence Minister was joined by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, and several senior officials at the flag-off ceremony.
According to BrahMos Aerospace, the company has successfully produced the first batch of BrahMos missiles from its new integration and test facility in Sarojini Nagar, Lucknow, marking a significant milestone for India’s indigenous defence production capabilities.
