Following its decisive triumph in the Bihar Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is focusing on its expanding presence across state legislatures, with party leaders projecting unprecedented growth in the coming years.
Amit Malviya Predicts BJP Will Cross 1,800 MLAs
BJP leader Amit Malviya highlighted the party’s rising representation, stating that the BJP is currently at its highest-ever strength in state assemblies. He expressed confidence that the party would surpass the 1,800 MLA mark within two years.
In a post on X, Malviya compared the BJP’s growth with the Congress Party’s peak of around 2,018 MLAs in 1985, which he described as a result of a “sympathy wave” after former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s assassination.

‘Congress Inherited Its Peak, BJP Earned Its Rise’
Malviya asserted that the BJP’s ascent is the product of sustained, grassroots efforts, unlike the Congress, which he claimed benefited from historical circumstances.
He stated:
“Congress inherited its peak. BJP has earned and endured its rise, seat by seat, state by state, struggle by struggle.”
He added that the future belongs to parties that “work consistently” rather than those dependent on legacy.
