A shocking incident has come to light from a private engineering college in South Bengaluru, where a female student was allegedly raped by her collegemate inside a men’s washroom on campus.
According to police officials, the accused, identified as 21-year-old Jeevan Gowda, was arrested on Wednesday and has been remanded to judicial custody.

The incident reportedly occurred on October 10, while the survivor lodged a complaint five days later, on October 15. The case has been registered under Section 64 (Punishment for Rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
As per the First Information Report (FIR), the survivor and the accused were previously classmates. Gowda had fallen behind academically due to a backlog. On the day of the incident, the survivor met Gowda to collect some belongings. Later, during the lunch break, Gowda allegedly called her multiple times asking to meet. When she arrived, he allegedly tried to forcibly kiss her.

As the survivor attempted to leave using the lift, Gowda reportedly followed her to the sixth floor, dragged her into a men’s washroom, and sexually assaulted her. Following the incident, he allegedly called her later and asked if she “needed a pill.”
The survivor initially hesitated to report the crime but later informed her parents, who accompanied her to the Hanumanthanagar Police Station to file a complaint.
Police investigations into the case are currently underway.
