Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday evening visited the site of the explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station, hours after the deadly blast claimed at least eight lives and left several others injured.
Visits LNJP Hospital, Meets Victims
Before reaching the blast site, Shah visited the Lok Nayak Jaya Prakash (LNJP) Hospital, where several injured victims were undergoing treatment. He interacted with doctors and officials, assuring all possible assistance from the Centre.
The Home Minister was accompanied by Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora and senior officials.

Comprehensive Probe Underway
Speaking to the media, Shah confirmed that a detailed, multi-agency investigation has been launched.
“As soon as the blast was reported, the Delhi Police Special Cell, NIA, SPG, and forensic teams reached the site. All possibilities are being examined, and the cause will be determined soon,” Shah said.
He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called him immediately after the incident to take stock of the situation.
High Alert Issued Nationwide
Following the explosion, a nationwide high alert was issued by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) across airports, metro stations, heritage sites, and key government installations.

Teams from the National Security Guard (NSG) and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) are conducting an on-ground assessment.
Terror Angle Under Probe
According to initial findings, the explosion may have been caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) placed in a Hyundai i20 car.
CCTV footage from the area, including Red Fort Metro Station, is being scrutinized. One suspect has been detained, and possible links to Jammu and Kashmir are under investigation.
Officials confirmed that the explosion occurred hours after a major terror module bust in Faridabad, where police recovered 2,900 kilograms of ammonium nitrate linked to proscribed outfits.
